Portable RF Over Fiber for Remote Antennas and IFB
The Wisycom BFLT1-BFLR1 is a single-channel RF over fiber link in a portable format. The BFLT1 uses an optical laser to convert RF into an optical signal. At the other end, the BFLR1 photodiode converts it back to RF. As a result, fiber replaces long coax runs that would otherwise lose signal over distance.
RF Over Fiber Modes for Wireless Mic and IEM Coverage
The link works in two modes. ANT mode brings signal from a remote antenna back to receivers at the rack. For example, an antenna can sit at a distant stage while receivers stay in the broadcast truck. IFB mode works in the other direction, sending a low-power IFB or IEM signal to a remote area. Additionally, two BFLT1 modules can carry signals from a pair of diversity antennas.
BFLT1 and BFLR1 Specifications
Both modules cover a wide 170-1260 MHz RF band. The BFLT1 uses a 4mW (6dBm) laser designed to reach miles of fiber. It also offers 20 bandpass filters plus a tunable filter in 1 MHz steps to reject interference. Meanwhile, the BFLT1 can power an antenna booster at 12V, 150mA. In IFB mode, the BFLR1 supplies 12V, 200mA for external amplifiers such as the Wisycom PAW or LBP.
Portable Setup and Bluetooth Control in the Field
Each module runs on 9-18 VDC, so it works from a mains adapter or battery power in the field. Setup happens on a high-contrast OLED display with four navigation keys. Additionally, the Wisycom BT App allows real-time monitoring and adjustment over long-range Bluetooth. Two RGB LEDs flag RF overload and system status at a glance.
